This week in class we watched one of the two plays, Macbeth or King Lear. My group chose to watch King Lear. The outcome of this story was really surprising, but I am not talking about the story itself. King Lear was a classic tragedy but what came of it was different. You know how in most situations when we are given a book to read, but someone doesn't want to read it, they watch the movie. Well that is a great idea, if you can understand what the movie is saying along with the plot. This was not the chase. This was one of those times were I wished we had done the opposite, read the book before hand and then watched the movie.
King Lear was really hard to understand at points and because we were only given a brief overview, it became harder at some scenes. I do agree that watching or expereinceing the play is better is than reader sometimes but because we did not read it my group came up with ideas to make it easier.
Stopping the movie and talking at significant points worked extremely well. This helped us understand the play from other people's persceptives and be able to ask questions for those parts that were more complex.
Another thing that my group utilized was sparknotes. During the play we followed along with the translated verison. This helped me personally so much; what the characters were saying actually made a little sense for once. I really enjoyed using this tool because it brought all areas of the story together.
By using multiple effective tools and the people around me, I strongly believe that me and my group will be able to use the points discovered very effectively and allow for a strong finish in this project.
